NatHERS Assessments for Existing Homes: The Tools You’ll be using.
If you’re doing NatHERS assessments on existing homes, the core energy rating tool is CSIRO’s AccuRate Enterprise.
Currently AccuRate Enterprise is supported by the third-party data collection tool, magicplan. Magicplan is not mandatory to complete an assessment and is not NatHERS accredited. Magicplan has been customised by CSIRO to export data into AccuRate Enterprise, reducing time on and off-site during an assessment. The CSIRO magicplan forms were restructured and released on July 1 2026, The new forms make the process feels noticeably smoother.
There is an expectation that NatHERS-accredited third-party user interfaces will also be available. NatHERS has had “strong expressions of interest” from developers for several tools in 2026 third-party user interfaces accredited by NatHERS will also be available to utilize from data collection through to the certification instead of editing on the AccuRate Enterprise platform, which could further simplify and streamline the assessment process.
