ratngs and information to help improve Australian homes. All new homes to be built in Austraila require an Energy Rating. If the proposed dwelling does not achieve the current 7 Star minimum rating, we provide direction to achieve this result.

The Australian Government is expanding the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) to include assessments for existing homes.
These new ratings will help householders better understand their home’s energy performance, identify cost-effective upgrades to improve the comfort of their home, and reduce their energy bills.

The Building Sustainability Index, or BASIX, is a mandatory scheme implemented by the New South Wales government in 2004 to ensure that new homes and significant renovations meet specific energy and water efficiency standards.
All new residential dwellings and all alterations and additions that need council approval require a BASIX certificate in NSW.
